Ooo, what’s that?

That would be NS Novelties Sinful restraints line. And I really, really wanted to call it vegan. Was ecstatic to be able to offer ethical vegans a vegan restraints set that, for me, is so much better than the Fresh set that was so popular back in the day. But alas, they used leather for the strap on the leash. So the cuffs are vegan, and the collar is vegan, but the leash that comes with the collar is not. Poo.

If you’re not an ethical vegan, though, you’re gonna love this whole set. I know I do!

How’s it made?

The Sinful Collar and Cuffs are made of neoprene, vinyl, and black nickel-free metal. They’re 2 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick. The wrist strap on the leash is made of leather.

The band on the collar is 17 1/4 inches long. The band on the wrist cuffs is 10 1/2 inches long. And the band on the ankle cuffs is 12 inches long. These measurements are not an indication of wearable size. When measuring to see if these restraints will fit, please allow at least 1 1/2 inches for the padding and such.

The set I have is “pink” and black but it’s a really red pink. They also come in straight black.

What’s it for?

Bondage, obviously. This set is super versatile. You can use it for a hogtie, or attach the cuffs to a spreader bar, or even just wear the set while you go about your day, if you’re the type who enjoys 24/7 bondage and/or visible symbols of consensual slavery.

I mean, I dunno that I’d suggest you do stuff like clean the bathroom or wash dishes while wearing them. But you could definitely wear them comfortably for a long amount of time during which you are not doing household chores, or anything else that requires you to use harsh chemicals.

I’m gonna start with my single serious complaint about this bondage set: the packaging.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s lovely and minimal, if not very discreet, but who keeps the packaging for bondage gear, anyway? We sure don’t. Once the review is written, the packaging goes in the recycle bin.

…maybe that’s why we have so much trouble with our garbage removers. Lol.

HOWEVER.

Generally speaking, restraints come laying as flat as possible in thin plastic sleeves. While this method doesn’t do much to protect the product, it does keep the material from creasing or molding into weird shapes.

When I first saw the boxes for the NS Novelties line, I was really excited. Restraints that are protected by a little more than a plastic sleeve! How awesome is that?

Except it’s not. In fact, it kinda takes away from the awesomeness of the toy inside. Because of the size and shape of the boxes, the restraints have to be folded and stuffed inside, which creates a crease. If it’s difficult to coax a crease out of leather, it’s nigh to impossible to coax a crease out of vinyl. But it can be done!

They’re really stiff right out of the package, which is normal for restraints. It just takes a little breaking in.

They’re a little bulky, which only serves as a con because M sometimes likes to keep me in wrist cuffs all day. It’s really difficult to type on a laptop while wearing bulky cuffs.

However, the added bulk also adds to the comfort while wearing them. Especially if the wrist cuffs are clipped together behind the wearer’s back, or over the wearer’s head. It makes them really, really cushy, which reduces loss of circulation, stress on the joint, and marks left behind from continuous wear.

M’s recently installed a D-ring on the wall so he can clip my wrists over my head when we play. The Sinful Cuffs are even more comfortable than our fur-lined suspension cuffs when used in that way. I was able to have my wrists over my head much longer than I would have been able to with the suspension cuffs. They didn’t pinch, or pull, or stress my wrists in any way. It was just over all a much better experience.

The collar is a little on the short side. If you have a thick neck, like I do, you might want to look into an extender. Or make your own. They’re pretty easy to make, and you can find vinyl and neoprene in almost any craft store.

For reference, my neck is 15 1/2 inches, and the collar is just barely too tight on the last hole. Like, it doesn’t cut off circulation, or inhibit my ability to breathe, but it would be more comfortable if the last hole were just half an inch looser. It definitely has something to do with the padding, but I have long since lost the ability to figure out how much length you lose because of that. I mean, I’m 18 years out of high school, and most people don’t do that kind of math outside of a geometry class.

The metal that holds the straps in place never touches skin. This is a biggie for me because I have ruined more than one pair of restraints by sweating on them during a scene and causing the metal that touches skin to rust.

Each of the restraints has its own clip, which has me really impressed. So many cuff sets don’t have clips at all, or only have a clip on one side, which leaves the buyer needing to buy clips if they’re planning to use something like a St. Andrew’s Cross, or spreader bar.

They’re beautifully crafted. I mean, I’d wear these to an event. They’re that pretty. None of the pictures I’ve seen (or taken…who knew taking good product photographs wasn’t like riding a bicycle?) really do them justice. I really wasn’t sure what to expect when they got here, because non-leather restraints are so often tacky and break easily, but these seem well put together and actually look really nice in person.

They’re water resistant. The cuffs are strong. The clips are strong. They’ve got finished edges so the vinyl doesn’t cut into your skin. I feel like NS Novelties thought of just about everything with these restraints.

Anything else I should know?

So before I could use these, I had to wear them in a little. Sort of the way you would a new baseball glove, only without the baseball. Which basically just means buckling them closed on the hole that I would be using if I were wearing them so they start to take the form of a circle. It was only a couple weeks before the material was soft enough that I could put the cuffs on and take them off by myself.

I’m going with “water resistant” because most neoprene and vinyl are waterproof, but you know how that goes. Sometimes it is…sometimes it isn’t. You can use this set during water torture and/or water sports, but I’d be sure to dry the metal immediately when finished. It looks like it’ll be fine, but better safe than sorry.

Clean up is a snap. Just wash the restraints with a mild detergent and water, and allow to dry.
