It’s my birthday, and I’ll give stuff away if I want to!
Seriously, though, today is my birthday. I’m thirty-six, today, and I’m so stupidly excited about it because it’s the sixth and six times six is thirty-six. We all have our quirks, I guess.
I’m actually pretty excited about getting older. I made a promise to M to grow old with him, and every birthday marks another year I’ve kept that promise.
There have been an insane amount of technological advances, from the size of our phones, to the way we treat fatal illnesses. We’ve still got a long way to go, but pretty much everything about how society works has changed during my thirty-six years. I’m really excited to see what else we come up with as I age.
I have a son in the National Guard, a daughter who was accepted into a school for smart kids, and a child who recently came out as pansexual and gender fluid. I’m rebuilding my relationship with my mother, understanding that I’m never going to change my father (who has made a liar out of me and decided that he will, in fact, vote for Trump if he’s the Republican nominee), and realizing that I don’t have to like my family’s politics to love them. I’m actually taking an interest in my health, and doing things that I would have previously let my anxiety keep me from doing.
We’re getting ready to move into a three bedroom house in the country. I’m writing again. By this time next month, I will have self-published the first part of a fictional short story series I’ve been working on.
2016 is going to be a good year. I can feel it in my bones. Knock on wood.
If you’re wanting to do something for my birthday, I’d love it if you’d help out Crista Anne and her family. If you remember, they’ve been involved in a vicious custody battle for way longer than anyone should have to be, and they could really use a hand. It won’t get you an entry in the giveaway, but it will make you feel good. Everybody likes to feel good.
And…you know…enter this giveaway. That would be an awesome birthday present, too!
The prize is the NS Novelties Sinful Collar, Wrist Cuffs, and Ankle Cuffs that I recently reviewed. (Peepshow Toys is generously supplying the prize. Thanks, y’all!) This set is, hands down, the most comfortable cuff set I’ve ever owned. It’s also under $60 (before tax and shipping) for the entire set, so I won’t be too terribly offended if you decide to skip the giveaway and just buy it. In fact, to prove there’s no hard feelings, here’s a coupon code for 10% off your entire purchase: RAYNE
